Here is the thread from what I pasted above: Many users try updating drivers through Microsoft, but they don’t do sund very well. If so no drivers are going to help that. Maybe that wasn’t the correct audio driver then.

In the device manager, there is yellow mark next to multimedia audio controller. I had tried the download link Daniel posted but it was no good so I had soujd find another source for the driver. That is why you have no sound. Please give it a try and let us know if soound worked. I attempted to install the driver from safe mode and the setup completed and I got a message it was successful.
In device manager, under the Multimedia Audio Controller with the yellow mark, the properties menu under device status, it says “this device is not configured correctly.
