I tried to manually update the driver but it failed with the message “The data is invalid”. Only thing diff was the last checkmark which I gave a try but since it didn’t increase the speed I unmarked it again. Here’s my system log after unplugging the usb and connecting the esata cable. I thought, that your problem is the missing “HotPlug” feature and didn’t know, that the connected drives are not detected by the OS at all. This, however, was fixed by JMicron by a newer driver so I know the drive and the controller are completely cabable of doing their thing. So you should not expect the release of an updated JMicron driver very soon. Maybe the HDD doesn’t get enough power. My suggestion is to use the jmucron Win8. This was probably not required but I read that this is best way to go when installing Win 7 onto SSD when you also have other internal HDD and applied the same logic for Win 8.
